  3. The participants will receive a queueing number and a printed copy of the game mechanics before being accompanied to the waiting area.
  4. The Game Master will announce the participants who will compete in the “City of aMAZE” according to their queueing numbers.

GUIDELINES (DURING THE COMPETITION):

PRELIMINARY ROUND

  1. The “City of aMAZE” has four (4) starting points indicated by the characters H, N, U, and %, and four (4) corresponding finish points indicated by the characters H, O, W, and *. The size of the whole arena is 54” x 54”. The effective dimension of each block is more or less 1.5” x 1.5”. The whole maze has a total size of 36 x 36 blocks.
  2. In this round, each participant may choose any of the starting points with a corresponding line path that leads to its corresponding finish point. The participants must follow the specific instructions for each color block of the maze:
    • Green – Move Forward
    • Red Turn Left
    • Blue Turn Right
  3. The participants can only use (1) one robot at a time to complete any line path.
  4. Competition time is set to 10 minutes per team.
  5. Before the race begins, the team will be given five (5) minutes to calibrate their robots.
  6. Once the race begins, a total of three (3) attempts will be given to the team to save their robot.
  7. The participants can choose to save their robot if they encounter certain conditions, including but not limited to:
    • Alignment failure
    • Parts detached
    • Robot stopped
    • Program error/recalibration
    • Reached the borderline
  8. Each action to save the robot will be considered as one (1) attempt regardless of the action made. However, the timer will still continue and the robot must be placed back to where it was previously saved to continue the race.
  9. In case the robot reaches the borderline, the participant may place the robot not more than 10 blocks behind the path it has already traversed.
  10. The score for each completed line path is 86 points.
  11. In case the participant is not able to complete or chooses not to complete the particular line path, the points will be based on the row number of the last block where the robot had traversed.
  12. If multiple attempts are used on the same line path, the last block reached by the robot on the last attempt will be the recorded score.
  13. If any issues arise that are not backed by these guidelines, the panel of judges will be consulted and their decision will be followed.
  14. The first 12 teams with the fastest completed times followed by the highest scores will proceed to the final round.

FINAL ROUND

The same mechanics will be applied in this round with the following modifications:

  1. (#3) The participants can use two (2) robots simultaneously.
  2. (#4) Competition time is set to 15 minutes per team.
  3. (#6) A total of six (6) attempts will be given to the team to save their robot(s).
  4. The participants cannot use the same line path once it has already been completed.
  5. (#14) The top three (3) teams with the fastest completed times followed by the highest total scores will be declared as the winners.
